Finance Coordinator

Date:  15-Jun-2022

Wellington, NZ

Finance Coordinator

  • Mix of accounts payable, accounts receivable and credit card administration
  • Bring your ideas on how we can improve our processes and they way we work
  • Support our people here in NZ and at posts and embassies all over the world

We offer flexible hours and working arrangements where possible  - so talk to us about what will work for you.

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

We are a small but committed and supportive team, valued for the work we do because we are known for building strong relationships and always questioning how we can do things better -  for us and for the people we support, both in Aoteroa and across 62 locations around the world.

As a member of our lovely team you’ll notice that the work we do is a bit different from a typical accounts payable or accounts receivable position – because not only will you deliver accounts payable and accounts receivable systems and processes,  you’ll also be responsible for credit card administration and administering our expense management system.

In addition, you will assist banking officers to process foreign currency invoices and funding requests into our finance system.

We use multiple systems that you probably haven’t come across before – but we have a ‘buddy system’ and can provide lots of on the job training  - so as long as you already have some finance experience e.g. in an accounts payable, accounts receivable or ‘finance allrounder’ role we will be able to get you up to speed before you know it.

Our team agrees however that the most important aspect of this role is making sure we have a customer focused approach in everything we do – so we hope that you are someone that agrees with this too and that you are someone who wants to make a difference by bringing your ideas on how we can do things better for our customers.

The appointment range for this role is $55,913  - $62,125 including employer contribution to Kiwisaver - negotiable depending on experience.

This is a 2 year fixed term contract or secondment opportunity

Please note:

This is not a Foreign Policy/diplomatic role.  This is a ‘Corporate’ role (known here as a Specialist role) based in central Wellington, NZ.

While it is not usual for specialist staff to be ‘posted’ outside of NZ, from time to time a specialist role overseas becomes available at one of our embassies, high commissions, missions or consulates. To be considered for one of these positions you will need to apply and be considered via a competitive recruitment process.

If you have an interest in an MFAT foreign policy career you will be welcome to apply for this either via our graduate recruitment or mid-level foreign policy recruitment campaigns.

Mā‎ wai te mahi nei? – Who are we looking for?

You don’t need experience in Governent or in large corportate organisations to be considered for this role.   We will help you figure out how things work around here and we will show you how to use our systems but you will need to be organised, details focussed and happy to turn your hand to anything.

In particular we will be looking for you to demonstrate the following on your application:

  • Experience in either accounts payble, accounts receivable or credit card administration
  • Your ability to work effectively with colleagues, but also to think independently and work autonomously when required
  • Your ability to quickly learn new systems
  • A strong focus on detail particularly related to data and information management
  • An interest in continuous improvement
